THE OPPORTUNITY PROJECT SUMMIT 2023

The Opportunity Project (TOP) Summit 2023 is a multi-day virtual conference presented by Census Open Innovation Labs (COIL) to showcase the work accomplished through TOP’s 2022 sprints. The conference will feature innovative technology and data products, amplify the value of open innovation in government, host conversations with leading experts and grassroots community leaders, and provide hands-on learning opportunities for attendees. COIL will also announce upcoming initiatives and new products, including the re-imagined TOPx Toolkit and the newly-formed TOP Collective. 

What is The Opportunity Project (TOP)?

The Opportunity Project (TOP) is an innovation program led by Census Open Innovation Labs (COIL) at the U.S. Census Bureau that was founded in 2016 and is now scaling across federal and local governments. TOP ​brings together technologists, government and communities to rapidly prototype digital products using federal open data. 

To date, thousands of individuals, hundreds of organizations, and more than 30 federal agencies have participated in TOP.
