Workshop:
Public Health + Communities: Cultivating Data Champions
To IRIS, a leading community referral platform, a data champion is someone who lends their knowledge and experience to advance community discussions and decision-making. Often the life cycle of data collection, analysis, and dissemination is extractive, unaccessible, and not communicated for stakeholders and residents of the community. Join Loretta Severin of the Center for Public Partnerships & Research’s IRIS team in a skills based workshop that will explore how to be a data champion when working with communities.
Schedule:
5:30 - 6:30 p.m. -- Workshop
6:30 - 7:00 p.m. -- Networking & Dinner
Please note that in order to promote an optimal learning experience, there is limited seating for this event. The event will be capped to 20 students and 20 professionals. This event will be held in-person at The Hatchery, Emory University's Center for Innovation.
Asynchronous Learning:
Following the workshop, participants will receive an invitation to watch a cross-sectoral conversation in which panelists will explore various ways data can not only affect communities but can also act as a vehicle for change. Leaders across fields will discuss the way they explore community data to enable impact.
Our Public Health + series was created to explore the interconnectivity of all sectors within the field of public health. This season we will be exploring communities and the way that data is a cornerstone to not only understanding communities better but using this knowledge to activate change. Our series this year will consist of a skills building workshop, with a continuation of learnings in a panel discussion.
